Who are We?

Kimalen Mental Health Hub Uganda (KMHHU) is a youth-led organisation in Uganda committed to promoting mental health, well being, and effective trigger management. Our work focuses on ensuring that mental health care is accessible, personalized, and evidence-based, meeting the unique needs of children, youth, and caregivers. Registered with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) No. 80034477992718 and with the Namisindwa District Local Government No. 1235, KMHHU was founded in response to the rising tide of mental health challenges in our communities. These challenges often arise from a complex mix of factors, including psychological issues such as relationship conflicts, trauma, and social isolation; genetic predispositions to certain conditions; economic hardships such as unemployment, financial struggles, and job insecurity; environmental factors including exposure to violence, unhealthy lifestyles, and loss of routine; external events such as natural disasters, accidents, and pandemics; as well as other significant challenges like chronic illness, substance abuse, and major life changes.

Our Vision

To be a leading mental health services organization in Africa, empowering individuals and communities to achieve optimal mental health and wellbeing.

Our Mission

To reduce the incidence of mental health illnesses and associated risks by identifying and mitigating psychological dysfunctional threats and all forms of triggers.

Our Goal

To mitigate psychological dysfunctional threats through quality assessments, treatment, management, and holistic systems strengthening.
KMHHU delivers its work through five thematic areas that allow us to address mental health from multiple angles. These include Mental Health and Other Priority Diseases (MHOPR), Education and Development (ED), Social Economic Strengthening (SES), Environment Conservation and Reservation (ECR), and Social Care and Wellness (SCW). Through strategic partnerships, we have been able to extend our services to the most vulnerable populations, offering hope, building resilience, and empowering communities to live healthier, more productive lives. Our target groups include children, youth, and caregivers, with a special focus on those living in underserved and high-risk environments.

Our inspiration comes from Matthew 11:28, which says, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.” This verse reflects our belief that everyone deserves relief from the burdens they carry, and it motivates us to be a place of support, compassion, and healing for all who seek our help.
