Celebrating DEAR Day: Reading, Healing Minds, and Building Futures

DEAR Day, meaning Drop Everything And Read Day, is a special literacy and awareness activity celebrated by Kimalen Mental Health Hub Uganda to promote reading, education, and mental well-being. On this day, learners and community members pause their daily activities to engage in reading and reflection, highlighting the importance of literacy in healing minds and shaping positive futures.

Kimalen Mental Health Hub Uganda celebrates DEAR Day to advocate for improved access to education for children, teenagers, and young mothers living in the mountainous areas of the Bugisu Region. Many of these learners face challenges such as poverty, school dropout, trauma, and lack of scholastic materials. Through DEAR Day, the organization seeks to inspire hope and encourage a strong culture of reading and learning.

The celebration also serves as a call to action for donors, visitors, and partners to support vulnerable learners. We invite well-wishers to donate scholastic materials such as books, exercise books, pens, and school bags, as well as contribute school fees to sponsor or support a learner. Every donation helps keep a child in school and nurtures confidence, resilience, and opportunity.

Ultimately, DEAR Day aims to attract more partners to join Kimalen Mental Health Hub Uganda.
