In the heart of Namisindwa District, nestled among the rolling hills and rugged mountain terrain, stands ITEC Primary School—a place that has shaped generations through education, skills training, and community support. What began in the early 2000s as the Institute of Technology, offering practical skills like carpentry and computer literacy, later evolved into a nursery and eventually a full primary school. For years, ITEC has been a lifeline for children from vulnerable families who would otherwise have limited access to quality learning.
With school fees as low as 120 USD annually, ITEC opened its doors to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, giving them a chance to dream beyond the constraints of poverty. The school has not only focused on academics but has played a central role in strengthening community bonds, promoting cultural identity, nurturing leadership, and supporting children with disabilities and other vulnerabilities. Its partnership with Kimalen Mental Health Hub Uganda has also ensured that learners receive guidance in emotional well-being and mental health awareness.
However, like many rural schools, ITEC now faces overwhelming challenges. The infrastructure has aged, classrooms are overcrowded, and access to clean water, learning materials, and sanitation facilities remains limited. Many pupils walk long distances through the mountains every morning. Hunger, poverty, inadequate resources, and teacher shortages weigh heavily on their ability to learn and thrive.
Yet, hope remains—and this is where your support can make a profound difference.
Kimalen Mental Health Uganda is launching a campaign to renovate and revive ITEC Primary School so it can continue serving vulnerable children in Namisindwa. Our vision is to restore the classrooms, improve sanitation, expand boarding options for long-distance pupils, strengthen technology access, and ensure that every child learns in a safe, healthy, and uplifting environment.
We are inviting donors, sponsors, corporate partners, and friends of education to join us in rebuilding this vital community institution. Your contribution—whether financial, material, or technical—will directly transform lives in the mountains of Eastern Uganda. Together, we can restore ITEC to its original mission: a place where children discover knowledge, confidence, dignity, and hope for a brighter future.
Let’s stand together for the children of Namisindwa.
Let’s rebuild ITEC Primary School—brick by brick, dream by dream.
